Leleu, which means Jungle in the Mentawai dialect, is situated on one of the smaller islands in the central Mentawai chain off the west coast of Sumatra.

Leleu has 2 beach bungalows where guests get to experience an authentic Jungle Beach Island lifestyle.

We are not a resort but an exclusive vacation rental property that’s hosts a maximum of 6 guests in 2 villas. This makes it ideal for groups of friends and family.

The bungalows were designed and built around the concept of the Uma which is the traditional style of Mentawai homes. They have high natural sago roofs with open ceilings allowing for the flow of air to act as a natural air conditioner. Hence we do not need AC.

Our policy follows that of the ancient Japanese philiosophy Wabi Sabi.

The philosophy is the aesthetic of things in existence that are imperfect, impermanent and incomplete, thus finding the beauty of imperfection.
